Garcinia Indica is widely known as ‘Kokum’ in India and is a native to the Konkan belt of Maharashtra state where it is better known as ‘Amsul’ or ‘Aagal’. It is a small deep purple to black color sticky fruit. It has curly edges and the natural exterior cover of the fruit is dried and used as a spice. It gives a piquant flavor as it contains garcinol, citric acid and hydroxyl-acetic acid.
